I clench my fists
so fingers won’t be cold
they curl into the womb of my palm
frightened babies
for the wind
it lashes out at them
again and again
And even the sun
And walls
And folks

And food.
So I clench my fists

And they lock inside
Frozen – like ice-cream
To be hammered back
into life and freedom
I hammer them
I hammer them
so they spread their tentacles again
but cold and stiff
they are
Clenched to eternity.
